Some comments on the web suggest that this sauna is located in a dangerous area, but I didn't notice anything of that. As long as you enter in the early evening hours the street from the right side (and that's from the south), there's no danger. But still, this is Rio, so always be careful. The sauna occupies two buildings and that makes the inside orientation quite complicated for a first timer. Anyway you will get lost inside while exploring the different areas, but the present garotos will be glad to point you to the right place. And it's always an excuse for some chatting, although you better learn a few words of portuguese first! Twice I witnessed a show. Show 1140 by Luiza and her meninos was great. Classy and tasteful. The other one was with Lola Batalhão and she's less my stuff. Kind of a leopard woman ;-) Really weird. If your portuguese is not carioca enough, you don't understand anything of their jokes. On the contrary with Club 117, you won't see here many foreigners and maybe that's better too! New Meio Mundo still has that carioca spirit while Club 117 sometimes reminds me of a gay beach resort full of local muscle bombs and screaming queens, running up and down the stairs. New Meio Mundo is frequented by lots of locals and I had pleasant conversations with an architect and ... a priest! But maybe most important in expensive Rio. Prices of entrance, rooms and everything else is more correct. So you can save some reais while having fun.
