The White Sands Oceanfront Resort & Spa
Reviews
I stayed here before and was satified, but this years visit was disappointed. My rooms were dirty, the rugs were so disgusting that I didn't take my or my kids shoes off. The TV's were so outdated and so was the entire rooms. For $300 per night plus tax, I was extremely disappointed to say the least. To say you are a resort is a complete stretch. I hope you update your rooms and make some improvements before Summer 2015.
I had gone to the White Sands for my engagement and It was wonderful. From the front desk to room-service Strawberries and Champagne, balcony with an ocean view. It was the best My wife to be loved it also. It was clean and everyone was on point. The Firefly Restaurant also was delicious and portions were good. The only bad thing is that they close early. Other than that It was a wonderful weekend. Now we will go there every year for our anniversary. If your thinking of staying here don't think no more. Book it. You wont regret it.
Room was excellent. Balcony was small, but whole place clean and neat. Bathroom clean; shower had dispensers for shampoos and bath gels. Nice touch. Bed was new, firm non-lumpy. Pools, fitness room were fine. They even have a small "library" - just a room with piles of books, but hey, if you need a book to take to the beach. We stayed right across from beach. A/C worked fine. Their (free) private beach is not as nice as the beaches you pay for ($8.50), but adequate for us. It's about three blocks from the amusement park and nite life. TV was old tube-type but worked okay. (We didn't come to watch TV). Refrigerator was medium size, not the tiny "cube" you sometimes see. We could store lots of adult beverages. Ahem. We paid about $200 for a Friday night. Seems about right, peak season. They also have a spa, but we did not use it. The restaurant seems over-priced, but there's plenty in the area.
Short version: Good service, good stay, good catering. Really recommend. Long version: Great time! There for a cousin's wedding and reception on12/7. -They handled all our many rooms nicely, and the room I had was in good shape. -The catering staff for 180 people at the reception was prompt, courteous and hustling to keep everyone happy. -The bartenders had a lot of hard partying people on hand but I didn't hear any complaints from anyone about lines or service. -The food wasn't really anything special or unique, but it was tasty, there was plenty of it, and we had lots and lots of options. -The brunch buffet the next morning was fantastic. ---Thanks to everyone who made our event so good!
We have stayed at the hotel across the street from the beach, not the redone beachfront one. 1. Great view of the ocean through the filty glass slider. 2. Loved the 7 a.m. wake up call each day as the music in the ceiling in the hallway was turned on. 3. My wife went downstairs to get a soda at 8 a.m. and came back with a can of warm soda. 4. Came downstairs after our first night there and asked the gentleman on the computer who was being entertained by another associate with what looked to be puppets on her hands. When I asked where I could find coffee they both pointed down a hallway across from them and abruptly said, "Yeah, down there". Off I went...looked around and did not find any coffee. Saw a sign for the restaurant upstairs so off I went into the elevator where I walked into a BNI group and was told so by one of the members. 5. The binder in the room has both the Waffle house and OB diner in it. Waffle house is wiped out by Sandy and the OB is closed and up for sale.
