Kingfisher Oceanside Resort and Spa

We got to the resort and got in our room to see two beds. My wife and I can't stand two beds in a hotel room so we called the front desk to ask if there was a possibility for a room with one bed. The lady was courteous and said she'd look but they were pretty full. In the end she said there aren't any regular rooms but there's a beachfront suite. So I ask how much and she says "oh you're on travel zoo (a Groupon deal kind of deal). That's going to be an expensive upgrade." So I ask how much again and she tells me $150 a night. To which I reply "that's ridiculous." She then went on to tell me, now more short then courteous, that the room we were in is $165 a night and the beachfront suite is $300. Well we stayed in our room. The shower is one of those handheld showers on a pole that you can adjust up and down for height and then angle. With the exception that the weight of the shower head pulled it down so it would only stay completely vertical resting against the wall and shooting water at a 90° angle. If you tried to move it down it would just slump over and then the hand held shower would fall out of the holder. There's no tub as well. Just the poorly designed shower. And the beds are EXTREMELY hard. I woke up at 6 am with my back spasming from the hard bed. All in all we won't come back to the Kingfisher and we wouldn't pay $65 for this room let alone $165.
Amazing stay for family and extended family celebrating our parents' 50th. Restaurant was able to accommodate our large family daily and a huge party for anniversary supper-even when extra surprise guests arrived! Wheelchair accessible and easily accommodated food allergies. Spa was wonderful for relaxation and the resort site is so beautiful. Have been here three times and will come again.
sorry to say we were not happy with our stay.We were not told that renovations were underway and we endured hammering sawing bashing and used toilets etc. being carted by,not a pleasant birthday trip. The room we stayed in is evidence to why the renovations are needed.Secret deal indeed!!
Always a relaxing Vancouver Island getaway. Gorgeous property.
Relaxing and beautiful...
