Do not be fooled by the picture advertising this hotel as you will not be staying in the lovely house shown. There are no guest rooms in this house - they are in a 1970's style building to the left hand side of the picture and are not shown on any web site. We think this is false advertising and it certainly fooled us. Our first room (a superior king) had a very wrinkled carpet and the view out the window was a blank wall. We returned to reception and we were given another room. The rooms are a bit gloomy and again not nearly as nice as the photographs shown. We've since noticed that the photos are dated 2008. We were persuaded to eat in the restaurant but it was a mediocre meal. Our prawn cocktail seemed to be missing most of the marie rose sauce and the vegetables which were an added extra with the main course consisted of rock hard green beans and rock hard cubes of turnip. The carrots were o.k. We were there on a Friday night and there were only 7 other people there in a restaurant that holds probably 80. That tells a story in itself. However, the staff were all very polite and helpful and we appreciated the complimentary cocktails and the birthday chocolates at the end of the meal. These were arranged by Aileen and thanks go to her. Breakfast was not brilliant either as it was a bit greasy and the fruit salad consisted of cut up apples, cut up hard pears and a few grapes. We are not in the habit of writing bad reviews but this is the truth of how it was for us and it was very disappointing for a birthday treat. Don't think we will be returning.
Welcoming atmosphere with great location. The hotel was spotlessly clean.Booked a King Deluxe room - spacious and comfortable. Helpful and friendly staff - left an impression on me. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. Would recommend when need a nice place to stay.
