The Resort and Club at Little Harbor
Reviews
First, the reviews regarding the rooms appear to be mixed with the Suites and the Inn. Important note would be that a lot of the units at the Inn are owned by individuals [such as ourselves] and therefore not all the same. Also, questions and concerns are handle by the owner, not an employee of the resort. Contents of the room may vary as well as how they are maintained. We keep our unit 109 VERY clean and keep a lot of extras in the room to enhance our guests stay and we do not tack on fees/charges at then end of your stay. There are certainly rules at the resort to try and keep a resort setting, however, we are puzzled about the review where the guest was not allowed to fish from the seawall and would have suggested/provided a softside cooler for use at the beach or other options for a pleasant stay. The resort has a restful environment but also plenty of things to keep busy as well as entertainment at night. We hope those that say they would never go back look to reach out to the rentals owned and cared for by private owners for that special stay. It's really a perfect place to get away from it all!
We stayed at the Inn at Little Harbor for 10 days. The resort is really nice, right on Tampa bay with a nice boating canal behind the resort. The room was very clean and the staff was helpful. Our room was nice size with two double beds and balcony. The Sunset grille was a little pricey but the food was good. Its really a nice quiet resort away from the hustle and bussle you would see in Clearwater or St Petersburg. Had my morning coffee by the marina and watched a dolphin for 10 minutes hunting for fish.
Great place- clean and cozy. View was magnificent. We loved the private beach and how easy it was to get to places from here. We will definitely be back!
The marina was wonderful when we first arrived there 2 years ago. We had free access to the resort facilities as advertised. Then the resort got a new owner and its been a concentration camp ever sinceThe attitude of the manager is appalling and you have to pay 50.00 to use the bathrooms, pool and other amenities of the resort. It seems the marina and the resort are owned by different people and they can't seem to get the relationship between them right. It is a pain in the rear to deal with the resort and they treat the boat owners with disrespect and act toward you as an inconvenient scab they have to deal with. I believe however the sight of our yachts add to the ambiance of the resort. Something we don't charge for...The staff in general is ok but the manager is a snide little smart mouth with a condescending tone that could only be compared to a parent scolding a child using a threatening tone. The key cards fail every time they come near a cell phone and the rules for us boaters are constantly changing. First we can use all the facilities and then we are told we can not. My key card to get into the resort stops working and I have to go to the front desk to get it fixed 3 time in one day. I was told if it happened a gain I would have to pay 20.00 to get it recoded which takes 2 seconds and costs them nothing.I paid the fee and it's my fault their system fails! I am 61 year old veteran and I have paid my dues and believe I should be respected even if I come before you in shorts Tee shirt and flip flops. I highly recommend finding another marina for your boat not so close to hell... the entire atmosphere is intolerable.
This is the second time we paid for a vacation here, Last year was great but this year is horrible. We enjoyed fishing off the seawall that was right behind our executive suite last year. This year we were told that the rules have changed and that no one can fish there. If we had known this we would not have booked 2 weeks here. We still have 10 days left and can twiddle out thumbs every evening or watch the people at Hooks Bar get drunk down farther on the seawall and wait for them to fall off the seawall. This is supposed to be a safety issue but the resort makes money from Hooks and the drunks. I guess it is okay to fall in or drive away drunk from a boat parked at Hooks but guests are not trusted to enjoy fishing. This is supposed to be an issue that was recently decided by the Board of directors, but I noticed that the Board hides. There are no names on the website of board members or e-mail addresses to contact them. If they want to make rules that are not listed and rules that are not posted on the website or posted by signs on site they should at least be available to unhappy guests. We can fish from a pier that has no shade and no lifeguards. The swimming beach also has no lifeguards so how can there be safety issues for guests regarding the seawall. This is ridiculous. They are not concerned with safety anywhere else on the premises. Also, the advertisement on the website shows a family fishing off the beach. THEY NEED TO REMOVE THAT PICTURE. Fishing from the beach is not allowed either. This is a great place now if you just want to get drunk and party. Don't come for just relaxing and kicking back fishing unless you want to stand in full sun on a pier in 90+ degree heat with no shade. If you fall off the pier, you better be a great swimmer. No one will be there to help you.
