This is not exactly what I would call a "spa." The pedicure I had was a mess and the pedicurist didn't even do things I consider a basic part of a pedicure. I hate to say anything too bad about the atmosphere or service because everyone was so kind and friendly. But if you have been to a real spa before then you will likely be disappointed.

I cannot describe the wonderful service I received when visiting this spa. I've been to many spas and have never been treated as welcoming as I was at Butterfly Day Spa. The staff was very acommodating and took great care to make sure all my needs were met. From the time I walked in the door to the time I left I felt like I was the center of attention. Speaking of walking in the door. There was an overall feeling of peace that consumed me as soon as I entered the spa. Listening to the hymns that played in the background just helped me to release my stress and refocus my thoughts. Great job girls! Best massage and facial I've ever had.

A recent 'girls trip' to Iowa brought us many memories and experiences to share with others. My mother who is 88 years old, wanted to return to Boone, her home town, for a brief visit. A challenge at best as her health is failing, my daughter and daughter-in-law joined in for the adventure. Starting our trip with a very early flight in the morning from California, we knew we needed a relaxing way to begin our stay. With this said, I searched the unknown.. a spa in a differnet state, unfamiliar with people and locations. A simple email was quickly returned with several options to meet our needs appeared. And that it did... to the point that we made an additional appointment during our 5 day stay in the area. The staff was like family by the time we left and it was the perfect way to start the trip. Should I ever be so fortunate to return to the heartland, I will not leave without another visit to the Butterfly Wellness Spa for some TLC, and would recommend you do the same! Mary is fantastic, I have been to well over a dozen different locations around DSM and will gladly drive the hour each way to have Mary work on my back. I have chronic back pain and after two years of physical therapy and quite a few massage therapists Mary is the only one who has made a noticeable difference. I wish I could go more often. Surprisingly enough she is also less expensive then most spas I tried in the Des Moines area.

I wanted to buy my wife and some of my staff some gift certificates ,so I drove to this spa ( it is quite difficult to find and out of the way). I arrived to a dark building with a sign posted on the door indicating they should be open - nobody was home. I called the number on the door and received an answering machine indicating they were busy with a client; this was certainly not the case as there were no cars in the parking lot and the building was locked and dark. If a business advertises its open hours, they should stick to it. If they can't live up to their advertised hours, they should change their advertisements. Butterfly spa missed out on several hundred dollars in business due to this little mistake.
