Cactus Salon Day Spa

This place is like a circus. Its packed, too many employees, too little individualized attention. Its almost like they are told not to deny anyone an appointment at anytime. As a result, you wait, are tossed around and it feels like you are not important. My colorist ruined my hair. She overprocessed the highlights and it was so blonde with no contrast, i felt sick. It was an uncomfortable, unrelaxing experience . I did however give it an extra star because there is a guy who washes and his hands take me away. My body melted . Thats it. There is nothing more. It;s a Machine.. and its not well oiled. While that might work for a "Nubest"; it does not work for the "mediocre" talent at Cactus in Plainview on South Oyster Bay Rd.
I just got back from Cactus Salon and had the worst experience of my life. My appointment was with Liz for 10:30. I sat and waited until 11:00 and finally asked the girl at the desk what was going on. She managed to find someone to wash my hair. After a washing, I sat for another 20 minutes waiting for Liz to cut my hair. I sat and watched her start on someone's else's hair. At 11:30, I finally got up and got my coat and mentioned to the girl at the desk that my appointment was at 10:30. No one really seemed to care. I do not recommend this salon to anyone. There are places to go where they care and value their customers. Cactus in Plainview is definitely not one of those places.
I used a groupon here this morning and was not treated like a normal customer. They don't seem to value their clients. My appointment was at 10.45. I arrived at the salon at 10.43 and checked in the front with my groupon. The blond girl working up front took me to the back. The lady who washes hair said that girl that my appointment was with is still working so I should wait. I waited about 20 minutes and went to the front desk. There the same blond girl said that they are running 15-20 minutes late, and they had tried to contact me but hadn't reached me. I don't understand why she didn't give me this information when I first walked in, I would have changed the appointment. Upon complaining, they took me to wash my hair, after i had to wait another 20-25 minutes for the red-haired hairstylist to finally take me. I requested a blowout to give me hair volume--and she began to flat iron my hair! When I asked her to blowout, she said you should have said something when i flat-ironed the first side. My hair had no life after the appointment and was just as dull as before. When I come to a salon, I expect good courteous service. I don't know if the groupon had anything to do with it or not. I waited over 40 minutes to have my hair look almost exactly the same as before. Flat-ironing my hair is something I can do at home for free. My flatiron at home is even a better brand then the one she was using. The service at this salon is absolutely ridiculous, go to supercuts or lemon tree--they can do a much better job for a lot cheaper.
I used a groupon here and was definitely not treated like a regular customer! The red head girl who did my hair was rude and very rough with my hair. She burned my scalp more then once with the blow dryer and then gave me an uneven hair cut! I thought the whole point of a groupon was to try and get new customers in?? Well I definitely will not be going back here and will not recommend it to anyone!
Not a fan! I waited almost 40 minutes for mediocre color. Followed by cut and style that left a lot to be desired. I was going to a wedding and at the church my mother said "I thought you were getting your hair done!" I finally decided to wash and style myself before the reception. Waste of money!
