The Barn
Reviews
The good: Food was tasty, atmosphere is great, drink specials were especially well-priced relative to the food and location. The bad: Service was unorganized and slow, and food prices were a bit high for what you get (not totally unreasonable though) The ugly: Seriously, the service was terrible. Almost gave it 2 stars overall, but decided to give them the benefit of the doubt. It was impossible to get the server's attention, we had to go to the bar to order our first drinks. Asked the bartender to send a server over so we could order food, she told us to order at the bar. That's kind of inconvenient and annoying to do with a group of people, plus if I wanted to order at the bar, I'd have sat there. We got a table in a full service restaurant for a reason, to get full service. I asked for no tomato on my sandwich, it came with tomatoes. My friend asked for no tomato add barbeque on his sandwich, he got tomato and no barbeque. The server wasn't even around to correct it, he had to walk to the kitchen and get some BBQ sauce there. My other friend asked for her melt on a bun instead of the regular bread; guess what it came on? Oh yeah, and there were four of us, so we ordered 4 meals. We also ordered an appetizer. Three of the meals came out first (quite quickly, to their credit), but the fourth one and the appetizer were conspicuously missing. The server said she had no idea where the rest was. The fourth plate came about 10 minutes later, and the appetizer another 5 minutes after that. Hope you like buffalo chicken dip for dessert. We had about 5 different servers at different times taking drink orders, bringing food, and clearing plates. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing, but certainly seemed unorganized. And none of them were around when we needed something; of particular note my friend wanted to take her leftover melt-on-regular-bread (sorry to spoil the suspense there) in a box. It took 5 -- yes, that's five -- requests to get a box, which are apparently a rare commodity here. The first time she asked was to the bartender, who told her to talk to the server. That would have been fine, if we had seen one come by in the past 15 minutes. Somehow it took 4 additional requests to 3 different people to procure one. If you don't mind getting food exactly as it appears on the menu, eating at different times than your companions with out-of-order courses, and doing some of the running around yourself, then this could be a five star experience for you. If you're looking for even a moderate degree of service though, you're better off going elsewhere.
