I was visiting a friend from St.Louis who was in for a conference. we decided to drink in the lobby restaurant behind front desk. forgot what they called it, but we were there for 2 drinks a piece and all-of-a-sudden, my friend found not one but TWO shards of glass in her mouth, FROM THE DRINK!!! we we calm about it since it didn't cut her, but we alerted the staff & management. they of course didn't believe us, so we showed THRE different people, including two managers. What was annoying was that they kept asking to see the shards. the last time, we almost lost them due to trying to maneuver sharp shards of glass in our hands. they then nonchalantly offered ANOTHER DRINK!!! HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE??? we were still calm about it and i asked if we can have shots instead, since it comes straight from the bottle & we figured that the glass came from the ice machine. THEY REFUSED US claiming it was "against policy." anyway, they were rude to us & were not concerned with the situation, EVEN AFTER I TOLD THEM TO DUMP THE ICE AND CLEAN OUT THE BINS!!! they said they would, but who knows??? I CONTACTED THE CINCINNATI HEALTH DEPT. & A COMPLAINT IS PENDING. A CHILD COULD'VE GOT A SODA FROM THEIR PARENTS AND GOT CUT BADLY, INTERNALLY. DO NOT SUPPORT!!!
I liked that the kids could wander around safely in their PJ's at virtually any time they wanted. However.....our bed was completely worn out, preventing any chance at a good night's rest. We will probably purchase Kings Island Gold passes this year which give preferential ride times, close-in special parking, and the ability to go every day we want to in the upcoming season. The Gold season passes for all four of us will cost significantly less than ONE night's stay at this waterpark hotel! .
We live nearby and love this place! But it is not perfect! If you can avoid busy weekends you'll have a much better time. The waterpark can get overcrowded and housekeeping can get overwhelmed. I'd suggest getting on their email list. Specials sales are offered several times a year at great prices. This last time we stayed we asked for the top floor. To avoid some of the night time noise. I didn't get the room I wanted and the front desk staff was not very helpful. When I spoke with the manager she was fabulous. The type of room we wanted was not available on the top floor and the 800 number for reservations did not tell me that. I'd suggest confirming your reservation by calling the local number and do not hesitate speaking with the manager if you have a problem.
Wow...what a disappointment this trip was for the family. We have visited in the past and enjoyed our stay but this particular weekend was "paying for a headache!" We stayed in a KidCabin Suite spending over $300 for the night to wait in lines for a LONG time. We even had to wait to check in - 30 minutes. Waiting time for popular slides easily ran 30 minutes as well. Not too hard to figure when there would only be one life guard running two major slides. It didn't make sense at all. Huge crowd with lots of inefficiencies in the operations. The wave pool was even closed three times (for 45 minutes each time) during our overnight stay. Likely our last adventure to Great Wolf Lodge in Mason, Ohio. Very disappointing way to celebrate our daughter's birthday.
