Just spent a weekend with my family in one of the "Wildflower" units. These are inexpensive at $129/night. But of course throw in the taxes and cleaning it's more like $220/night for the 2 nights we stayed. Overall, this is an upscale vacation destination with lots of amenities. For the price-even the $220/night final price-what you get at Wildflower is quite nice. Our family of 6 did just fine. They have a shuttle to Mt. Batchelor but it's NOT free which I was a little disappointed in. But then I suppose that would be a bit much to ask. $10/person round trip is not bad. But as there were three of us who went it was definitely cheaper for my wife to drive us there. It only took about 20 minutes to get to the West Lodge. The resort layout is nice and organized and its fairly easy to find things. But the overall feel is commercial. If you like a bit more of a out-in-nature feel then something like Black Butte Ranch might suit you more. Now for why I'm giving 3 stars versus 4. 1) We arrived late on Friday. It must have snowed several days before and the snow had partially melted and refrozen. The lighting from where you have to park to where the unit is OK but the narrow side walk was not clear. There was snow and ice all over it. It was actually safer to walk on the grass than try to find/follow the sidewalk. In an age where people sue for truly stupid things like "too hot" coffee, a resort failing to clear a side walk of snow and ice prior to a occupant's arrival is a legitimate liability issue. I'm no geriatric but I quite aware how quick a wrist or ankle can be broken. 2) The second issue is just as grievous if not more so. On entering the master bathroom my wife noticed spots. She called me to look at them. She felt they were dried blood. I looked closely and agreed. (I work in the medical field, so I know what blood looks like, fresh or old and dried) That was further confirmed when I cleaned them up with moist TP. This was not just one spot. It was multiple spots in front of the toilet and a small "splatter" on the floor board. So I called the resort after we left to ask another question about pricing and mentioned the two above issues. I did not ask for a discount and I did not make a big stink. I was not offered anything other than a promise that my feedback would be "passed along". So I decided to "pass along" my own feedback. If this were to happen again, I would ask for a correction to my bill.

The house we rented was supposed to be 4 star but should have been 1 star. The beds either smelled so bad you couldn't sleep in them or were incredibly uncomfortable. Our house had a reverse living plan so the deck was on the 2nd floor. The guard rail for the deck was missing rails and others were loose and about to fall out. The entire guard rail was loose and about to fall from the deck. The hot tub which was marketed as private was right across from another house's yard so it had no privacy. The cover for the hot tub was so old and full of water it was nearly impossible to open and close. Lots of broken silverware in the poorly stocked kitchen. I could go on but won't. Sunriver's response to all of this was its renters responsibility to tell them about all of these conditions upon arrival so they can have them fixed. The unit is still being marketed as 4 star deluxe to this day. Total scam.

What a great place to escape the texas heat. Family fun at sharc... Cooling down inside of lava river cave. Fishing, horseback riding, biking, long hikes. Plus the friendly people makes this vacation destination most enjoyable

A great place to relax and enjoy family and friends. Everything from golf, bike riding, spas, pools, aquatic center, running trails, small shopping and more to do. The atmosphere is relaxing and fun for kids and adults. The rooms are comfortable and a little pricey but on par for a 4 star resort.

We called to book a $99 standard room - over the phone we were up-sold to a 'river view' deluxe room. There was nothing deluxe about it - only a large soaking tub - hardly enough to justify the extra $50. The 'river' was not much more than a stream - a bog really. So we complained and they switched us to a suite. Okay, so far so good. But the room wasn't very clean; we actually spent some time cleaning the counters since they had several sticky drink rings, hair in the sink.... My biggest peeve was that the room didn't have robes (seriously - what upscale hotel doesn't have robes in room???) - and there was an outdoor hot tub nearby. We asked for robes at the desk and were treated rudely - they sounded almost offended and confused when we asked! List goes on: the hot tub was closed all morning, so we couldn't use it; oh and we got charged the price for the suite in the end - or at least for more than what the 'deluxe' room was quoted. I was too tired to argue it. The one positive was the bartender was very nice and we had a lovely cordial before turning in that night. Gladly we only booked one night (with the expectation of staying a second) and so we stayed at Five Pines in Sisters the next night and had a much better experience.
