Eden Day Spa
Reviews
Today my friend and I went here for the first time and had a great experience. The staff was great! Very friendly and knew what they were doing. Definitely planning to go back.
I wasn't going to review my experience at Eden Day Spa and just let it go until my gel color on my manicure started chipping and peeling just 3 days after I had it done. I had a gift certificate to the day spa, so I decided to pay extra and get a the Garden Escape package that included a 60-min massage, facial, pedicure and manicure. I also ended up getting my eyebrows waxed. I started with the massage. It was horrible. 1. She kept scratching me with her extra long fingernails. 2. She was chewing gum like a cow chews cud. 3. Instead of gently manipulating my limbs, she tossed them around like sides of beef. 4. She was wearing these chunky wedges and when she walked around on the hardwood floor it sounded like an elephant wearing horseshoes. 7. A normal masseuse will rest their hand lightly on you so you know where they are in the room. This one would rest her hand on me and use me as a leaning post while she rested. 6. She was a little heavy and her breathing sounded like Darth Vader with sleep apnea. 7. The 60 minute massage was only 40 minutes. Next I moved to the facial. The facialist walked in and started to work. Not once did she ask many any questions about the type of skin I had or anything. That being said, it was not a bad experience. And my skin did end up feeling very soft. I asked her if someone could wax my eyebrows after we got through (I saw the wax and it just came to me then). She said she could do it. Horrible mistake on my part! She ended up leaving scabs over, under and on both eyebrows and in-between my eyes. One eyebrow area was red and swollen for 2 days! And I still have scabs! Next was the pedicure. The same girl that did my facial also did my manicure and pedicure. The pedicure wasn't bad. She was slightly disorganized and kept having to get tools, but overall it wasn't horrible. However, I was supposed to get the Marine Masque and I'm not sure I did, because it doesn't really explain what that is, but the pedicure wasn't any different than the normal ones I get at a nail salon, so I really don't think I got the Marine Masque. Finally was the manicure. I chose a gel polish because I was supposed to be able to get that on my toes, but didn't like any of the colors for my toes and thought I could substitute it for my nail polish (I like my toes and nails different colors). According to the package it would be the Moisturizing Spa Manicure which included a classic manicure, nail soak and masque hands. I don't know what masque hands is, but I can tell you I didn't get it. I also didn't get the nail soak. It was just a normal manicure you would get anywhere (minus the massage you normally get). And as I said in the preface, the gel nail polish started chipping just three days later and I haven't even done dishes! It was the worst, most unrelaxing spa day I have ever had. It's too bad, because I haven't been here long and am looking for a spa where I can treat myself once every couple of months. But, this one definitely isn't it! Too bad I can't give 0 or 1/2 stars.
I'm a regular at Eden for hair services (Cassie is a color magician!) but I visited Eden Day Spa for a shellac manicure and a regular pedicure 10/21/11 that had me extremely unhappy. Here's my experience that day: The nail tech started with the "pedicure" - basically, she soaked my feet, then painted my nails. Barely buffed, and didn't clip. I chose a French pedicure, but it looked so bad the first time, she had to completely remove the polish and start over. It still wasn't good. There was no precision to the lines, and none of my toes matched. Some of the white lines were curved, some straight, some thick, some thin, some crooked. It looked completely amateurish - not what I expect from an establishment claiming to be 'the only full service spa in Victoria'. I redid them myself at home. My 'shellac manicure' was also a flop. I was told on the phone 'they can do french manicures with the shellac'. It was awful - same problem with the uneven, crooked white lines, plus the polish, by design, was thick and globby. The colors of the polish are extremely limited - a few reds, a black, a brown, a blue, a glitter, and some sheer pinks that aren't worth even putting onto one's nails because they have NO coverage. This service isn't worth the money unless you want your nails one of the few available colors. I decided to give the tech another chance and asked for a regular manicure, as this was supposed to be a treat in anticipation of a weekend away with my husband. The "manicure" was a tiny bit of filing and 4 attempts to polish, because the tech kept messing the polish up with falling brush bristles and lint from the dirty towels. Not to mention, none of the colors they offered were what I wanted, so I settled with a cappucino color that came off when I was at home. To add insult to injury, another tech acted extremely put out about the extra time I took at the drying station (even though there were no other clients in the room needing the dryer) and made sure to comment about the fact that I'd been 'already drying for 5 minutes!' so I left with 3 dings in my still-wet polish, since apparently, it's a problem to dry one's nails completely. Also noted several NYC nail polishes on their polish wall - the same ones sold for $1.99 at the drugstore. I find that very unprofessional for a spa. Edited 10/25/11: Deena, the salon manager, caught my review and called me to see if they could make this right. I ended up accepting a salon credit towards hair services but she did offer either a refund or a re-do. My salon experience was a one-star rating, but I appreciate the manager being so service-oriented, and I think that deserves five stars, so I'm splitting the difference with a 3-star rating. Could be better, but could also be worse. I think that the problem has been addressed here, so I'm sure the quality of the nail work won't be an issue from this point on. I will probably go elsewhere for my next mani/pedi, but I can say that if you aren't satisfied with the work, the management will do whatever they can to make sure you leave satisfied. I'll be back for the hair services very soon.
great place!!!!!!!!!!! my husband got me a gift certificate here and told me the people here were awsome, he was right they are really sweet and does a great job at what the do. definitely will be going back and i also am telling all my family and friends about them. by the way my mother went and said the same thing
I've been a regular at Eden Day Spa for years and have always been pleased with both the services and the staff. I've never had problems with my mani/pedi and enjoyed my massages so much that I talked my husband into getting one for himself (which he thoroughly enjoyed). It is so nice to go to a spa with such a relaxing atmosphere and a staff that really strives to please. I must also mention that my massage therapist Natalie is the best! I will definitely be back.
