Colorado Athletic Club - Flatirons

Called to get pricing information - they refused to give it to me. They wanted me to wait for a 'membership team member' to call me later in the day. All I wanted was an idea of the cost..... There should be no run-around with that simple of a question. They obviously just wanted to give me a whole schpeel to get me to join. If you have to ask, you can't afford it. They obviously aren't 'proud' of their price or they would list it on their website, or at least be forthcoming when you call them. Never been in, but that left a BAD TASTE in my mouth.
Flatirons sold out to a big corporation, they have so many customers, they cannot treat them individually...they just send out computer generated letters. Watch out for big increases in your subscription. Very sad to see a local institution go global...
I've recently had a baby, 5 months to be exact. I have just started to work out again. I also have a 3 1/2 yr old boy, so time is limited. Remembering the Admit One Free card i had to the club that my girlfriend had given me this summer, i jumped at the chance to get a work out in. Both the kids were being taken care of this morning!!! I don't have a nanny, family or other sources of childcare other than my working husband, so this is a treat. time is limited! I walk in, present the card and notice the card has an exp date, Oct 08. I am hoping that they will honor this card and let me try out the club. i have just recently moved to the neighborhood and am interested. I assume it was one of the managers who answered, "you can fill out this paperwork, take a tour and then speak to one of our membership staff about that". "That", meaning a quick self tour and a good workout to get a feel for the place. i went to fill out the paperwork, thought about the attitude and realized, "I don't have real time for this" so i said you know what "forget it", in a very neutral unaffected tone. i will do the usual, go on a run and use the fit ball at my house. I didn't f even feel welcomed. They did pardon me with "have a nice day" on the way out. I guess they were doing what was told of them, if only they could have known where i was coming from and had a little understanding for a Mom that doesn't have time for the Full Tour. I just wish they could have let me out of their mass marketing box and understood that flexibility and understanding can be another marketing tool. i think they may have lost a potential customer. I have been taking group Pilates reformer classes at this club for over 3 years now and have not found anything better or more flexible (or for that matter more affordable) in the Boulder area. I have found Pilates at FAC to be a longterm sustainable addiction! Other positives about this club: decent pools and phenomenal swim instructors/classes, tennis courts (and awesome tennis pros - Sue Burke and Jim Pagano), basketball court, super nice and personable staff/personal trainers (extremely qualified too), steam room and sauna (in the womens locker room...not sure about the mens!), very accessible to senior citizens, overall fun attitude at this club. Negatives: locker rooms and bathrooms need more space/remodeling, needs more organized classes/clinics for kids 8-12 on the weekends (i.e. higher levels of tennis and/or maybe basketball clinics).
