Cottonwood Hot Springs Inn & Spa
Reviews
I was planning to return to Cottonwood springs this weekend, as we enjoyed it so much last time, and happened upon these reviews, the negative ones seemed very much at odds with our experience, which was peaceful (it was snowing...) and relaxing and wonderful. The staff were so nice they made our whole day. We loved the honesty system with the tea and snacks in the reception, and the pools were just lovely. So much nicer than all the concrete at Mt Princeton... Hope to come back soon!
I have never written a review before. However, the staff at Cottonwood hot springs is so terrible I feel compelled to save other people the headache and hassle of having to deal with them. I followed all of their requirements for canceling our reservation. I called 6 days ahead, spoke with a gentlemen who assured me numerous times that my card would not be charged. Yet, they still charged my card and refused to reimbursed me. They take no responsibility and blame everything on the customer. They outright stole our money. We stayed at Mount Princeton and everything was amazing. Please, Please, Please do not book here and go to Mount Princeton.
This place is truly magical! One of my favorite little hidden gems of the rockies. Great massages, fantastic service, a very quiet, and cozy Hot Springs and the cabins are intimate and delightful! What a beautiful place. We saw Big Horn Sheep on the rocks above the springs. Did i say magical already? Perfect area to escape and meditate!
Dont let the negative reviews scare you. We found them to be so far from the truth it wasnt funny. The rooms are spotless. Heated from the pools themselves. They stay very warm. The pools were awesome!! Very clean, crystal clear. Some were very hot, some very warm and some cooler. All very rustic. Loved the rock formations with built in seating. There is some construction going on from a fire we were told. Did not interfere with our stay. The staff could not have been more pleasant and helpful. All in all, we WILL return! Oh and one more thing. DO NOT follow your GPS directions. Stay on 306 until you get to the resort.
I first went there with my daughter and a friend 2 years ago (2012). We stayed in one of the rooms, not a cabin (I haven't seen the interior of those) and hated the stench of B.O., musty pillows and the general greasiness of it all. Do *NOT* stay in one of the rooms if you usually prefer and appreciate 4 - 5 star comfort and amenities. It's VERY rustic. The pools were clean and I witnessed them being refilled early the next morning, which pleased me because I knew I'd be soaking in fresh, clean water. We had a lovely time relaxing all day in the pools of varying temperatures. As a family, we prefer to go to Mt Princeton hot springs, but the last 3 times we've been there this year, their larger pool was algae encrusted and gross. Cottonwood is quiet, cozy, simple and rustic. I enjoy the soaking but hate the rooms. Bring a large cooler of food or be prepared to drive to eat!!
