We made the long trek from Dillon all the way out to these hot springs to join some friends. The drive up was crazy, steep and narrow. When we arrived up top we walked up to where we pay and we said hello how's it going to the guy behind the counter. Without responding to our question he promptly said, 12 bucks. Okay, so we proceeded to hand him the card and he said, um cash or check only. We asked where the closest atm was and his partner said back in town, you can come back the gates are open until 10:30, have fun going back down that winding road. Needless to say we did not go back. Unbelievably rude staff, I would've liked to see the hot springs though.

We visited the hot springs last weekend. It was a horrible experience from start to finish, and I won't be going back. The staff was so incredibly rude at every opportunity and they were not prepared to handle the situation we were all in. Let me describe the situation… We rented the shuttle there and back so we wouldn't have to drive the road in the snow/ice. After soaking we were told that the road was closed by sheriffs at the bottom of the steepest part of the road due to extreme icy conditions, and no cars could leave or go. Our shuttle couldn't make it back - ok, fine. That can't be avoided. HOWEVER, the staff the entire time was so incredibly rude, uncommunicative, and frantic. It was a frightening situation - we had no idea if/how we were going to get back to SBS and the weather was miserable and cold. We were never offered a solution for IF we couldn't make it back to town - no assurance of any sort of accommodations at the springs or anything. We literally waited for hours in the snow/dark in the parking lot with no idea of what was going on or what we could do. We even heard one of the staff members sarcastically tell an older gentle who barely spoke English, that he would have to sleep in his car. The entire time the staff was running around, speaking on their landline to who knows who, and then barely giving us any sort of info or conflicting information. They were visibly frustrated and not acting calm or professional at all. To make a long story short, 2.5 horrible hours later, we were told that they were going to start letting cars leave one at a time. We didn't have cars so we were told that we should hitch hike with the strangers in the parking lot. At this point it was 11:30 pm. OK…so we did. Once we were in a car, we rounded a corner and were at the top of the steep hill, in a line of cars stopped. On the hill were about 15 cars that had slide sideways, and were either crashed, stuck or just blocked in. It was horrible. The tow trucks had just gotten there (road still closed) and were trying to clear the lower cars first. Clearly the hot springs staff should have checked to make sure the road was actually open before sending cars down. We ended up walking the entire way from there.. The staff said the road does close sometimes in the winter, so it was just astonishing that they did not have a contingency plan in place at all or some sort of communication system in place. I would have even felt a little bit better if the staff was actually caring of their guests. I have never seen a worse display of customer service. It was also a matter of safety.

Stunning, gorgeous, amazing experience in the forest! Here's what you need to know: 1. Transportation-- AWD/4WD vehicle or pay the fee for the shuttle. The roads were dangerous, but passable in winter. 2. Hydration: You're getting in hot water-- bring water or gatorade. Don't get hurt by getting drunk or high and getting in hot water at a high altitude. Duh. 3. Gear/Clothes/Cost: They only take cash. No cards! Bring swimsuit, unless it's after dark! Bring a towel, maybe bathrobe, good boots to walk in on the muddy path, and consider keens/water shoes. We had flashlights, but other people had glowsticks. It's DARK there! 4. Good attitude-- you'll see lots of people and lots of them, wink wink! (Clothing optional!) We went in November after some good snow earlier in the week. It was in the 20s-30's outside. We stayed for about 2 hours and loved every minute. We stayed in the 2 warm pools-- one probably in the 110s and one in the 100's-- not the cool spring/river that was probably in the 30's! The aspens with snow fall all around plus the evergreen trees, wow, what a spectacular spot. There are restrooms, changing huts, and chairs to set your stuff down. If you're in Steamboat, go here, at least once in your life!

The Springs were great. After dark, it's clothing optional and you can enjoy the cool air and the stars. There isn't light around the pools at night, so its other worldly. However, We stayed in the caboose. The sheets, blankets, and pillows smelled and were very thin which meant we froze the entire night. The towels they provided were thin. I was super disappointed since we paid over $200 for the night, we expected something a bit more.

The park was very nice so was the springs. But the rooms were not clean, there was mouse poop on the bed, floors not clean. The grill didn't work so we had to have cool dinner. the only good thing was that the fire place was warm. Oh also there were no curtains so you couldn't be naked and every one could see into you cabin. would not stay the night again. I would only go to the springs. and do not take a show they are gross.
