I went to Marge twice and had poor experiences both times. My first appointment I had a keratin treatment and touch up colour. She told me she has been doing hair for 47 years and is a "colour expert". After having my roots and scalp unintentionally dyed pink, I disagree. I waited a month and returned to her for corrective colour treatment to see if she could put her "expertise" to use. She first told me she was going to use a product she's never tried before and didn't know how it would turn out. (Way to instill confidence in your customer) That product didn't work, so she then used another product she was familiar with which worked but because she didn't comb it through my hair or evenly distribute it, I was left with leopard spots. Next, she told me she could put colour on my hair to even everything out, but she suggested colours that were way too light to have worked properly. Luckily, her new hire spoke up and said that a darker colour choice would be better for my current situation. So I chose one and Marge applied my choice, again not combing through or evenly distributing, and rinsed the colour out. After being there for four hours, I was ready to leave. No blow dry or cut, just brushed and ready to go. So I pay the $110.00 and as I'm waiting for my taxi, I look in my compact mirror and notice SHE MISSED MY ENTIRE HAIRLINE! Are you kidding me??? My hairline was entirely grey and she didn't even notice. She looked me straight in the eye, told me it looks great, and was going to let me pay that much money and not even have it done right. When I noticed this, I told her and she had her assistant add some colour to my hairline. I had to ride in a taxi while having hair dye around my face. Charming. The rest of my hair turned out terribly uneven and I have never had such a poor job done. On top of everything, the shop is a disaster and Marge doesn't keep it clean or hygienic. I would avoid Island Trendz and Marge at all costs. Between both visits I've spent $400.00 and I'm very disappointed. For professional hair care go to a professional, not just someone who says they are.
I am a frequent customer in the Plaza where Island Trends salon is located. It is generally assumed in a small strip mall that the parking is shared among all businesses within it. The owner of this salon threatened to call the police on me when I calmly explained that I did not have to move my vehicle as I was parking for one of the other businesses in the plaza. Very unprofessional and totally uncalled for. The same person also likes to double park in said limited parking. Just a public service announcement of the type of person that runs this business.
