Spa Sydell Midtown at Brookwood Plaza
Reviews
There are a lot of bad reviews so I thought I just had to come on here and share my AMAZING experience. Hands down Patricia gave me the best massage I ever had. She was knowledgeable and educated on the human anatomy and gave me full explanations of every muscle she was working, why she was working it, and how it would affect the rest of my body. She was incredibly subtle. Slow but precise movements created one of the most intense massage ever. Not rough or fast, no bruising the next day. I literally felt like I was high when I left. Her whole set up was amazing, aroma, heated bed, relaxing music. I wish I could give all of my money straight to Patricia. Iolanda did my facial and after a shower and my morning routine, my face is still glowing and soft. She waxed my eyebrows perfectly and did not leave any deep red marks after my extractions. The whole staff was incredibly professional and the facilities were clean, relaxing, and spacious. I noticed a lot of negative reviews were from over a year ago, so I dont know if they changed or if other reviews were just expecting something different but this place was amazing!!!!!!!
My husband and I decided to do the full spa day package at Spa Sydell for our 5th anniversary. This included 2 facials, 2 massages, and 2 mani-pedis. The cost of this was $560. When we got to the spa everything seemed nice and serene like a normal day spa but once we got changed into our robes and sat in the 'waiting area' everything started to go downhill. We waited for almost 15 minutes before we were taken back for our facials (And we were ON TIME for our appointment). My husband enjoyed his facial but I on the other hand did not. The girl doing my facial seemed rushed and she slapped the product on my face so quickly that it went in both of my nostrils and I couldn't breathe! Then she had the steam so close to my face I couldn't breathe (this was of course AFTER we had to clean my nose out.) and when she started to do the 'extractions' she swung the bright light over my head and it came crashing down on my shoulder! Not to mention the 'extractions' felt like she was cutting pieces of my face off. After she was finished abusing me, she left the room to let the mask dry. While she was gone she had left her cell phone in the room and it was vibrating the whole time she was gone! Needless to say I was NOT happy at this point. We then moved on to our massages. I had requested that both of our massages be 'deep tissue' to get rid of unwanted tension. My therapist told me that he wouldn't go 'Crazy Deep' on me since I just had just a little unwanted tension. If that wasn't 'Crazy deep' then I would HATE to see what that is! He was HURTING me! I asked him to lighten up on the pressure SEVERAL times and he would lighten up for a minute or two and then go even deeper! I actually have bruises on my back today (the day after) where he went so deep. I am sorry, if you are breaking blood vessels and causing bruises you are doing it too hard! THEN (yes it keeps going) we were supposed to have our mani-pedis and a 'spa lunch'. First we were told to go wait for our mani-pedis THEN someone totally different came to get us for our lunch. We sat down to eat and had only been eating for about 5 mins. before ANOTHER totally different girl came and asked us if we would be done eating in 5 mins! (Note: the spa lunch was $40 extra...) I told her "No. We paid for the lunch and I'm not rushing through it." She came back about 5 mins. later and asked if we were done again. We were done eating the main entrée but we hadn't even touched our fruit or dessert. She boxed them up for us and rushed us over to the mani-pedi section. After the mani-pedi (which for me was the only good thing about this spa day) we went to check out. At the check out the lady at the front desk was trying to up sale us on another massage. My husband very politely told her he wasn't interested and she continued to push the sale. My husband got increasingly angry because she wouldn't just drop it so he raised his voice and told her, "No I don't want to buy another massage! I have spent enough money today! I just want to pay out!!". She scanned his credit card (with a very huffy attitude) and handed it back. After he signed the slip she asked, "Would you like to leave a note and a tip for your therapists?" And he said, "No I would not. We didn't have a good experience and plus I just gave you $560. You tip them!" and we left. I will NEVER go back here again! I will drive all the way to Marietta to Renew Day Spa from now on. They are a much better spa! PLEASE DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON SPA SYDELL!!!
Me & my cousin had a spa day here at Spa Sydell. Staff is very friendly. Overall experience was nice.
Awesome and professional
We had a gift card for 30 minutes, they gave us 1 hour anyway without informing us. I actually didnt even get the hour because even thought i was there early, the staff never told me to go ahead and change. the message therapist was 5 minutes late and he told me that when i change it takes away from my message time. what??! At the end when I told them I had asked for only 30 minutes, they went ahead and charged me for an hour anyway (though i got maybe 45 minutes). without my permission they charged my card that i had given them to hold the appointment. is that even legal?!
