Lyons Twin Mansions
Reviews
My moms home town is in Fort Scott. Been going to Ft. Scott, KS all my life. I had never been to the Twin Mansions before. I believe we had the top floor velvet room. It was FANTASTIC. I was so impressed with Pat also. She provided us with the most excellent service. The dining Mansion had the EXCELLENT food and a great bar area. I had the time of my life. EVERY part of the Twin Mansions were beautiful, EXTREMELY well kept and simply beautiful and really really cant rave enough about Pat who is the owner. She is a gem and you can tell she belongs there and has been there for a very long time. She told us of the history and we toured the town. The trolly was great and the driver had so much history about Ft. Scott that I didnt even know. We stayed two days and I didnt want to leave. EXCELLENT!!!!! If you want a REAL bed and breakfast this is the place!!!!!! Thank you Pat and all the staff!!!
I would strongly say this was one of the best places I have ever stayed. Best customer service and I am one to criticize if needed. The room, Preecia's hideway, was outstanding. Comfort and romantic. My boyfriend and I enjoyed the room which included a 2 person jetted tub, a big roung couch (prefect for couples) and very comfortable king bed,the 2 hour spa massage didn't hurt either. The town was was friendly and interesting. Resturants were difficult to find a place that would please us but the local BBQ was fantastic, this coming from a native KC resident. Breakfast was tasty and very filling. On a whole I would say call Miss Pat today and get your room for a nice relaxing getaway and see why I came back so happy.
I grew up in Fort Scott and go back quite often to visit friends and family. The Lyons Mansion is the ONLY place I will stay in Fort Scott! The prices are not that much different compared to nice hotels in surrounding areas. And the hotels in Fort Scott are AWFUL! Don't waste your money, your time, or your trip - just book your stay here!
Last summer a friend and I stayed in the Lyons Twin Mansions cottage that is across the street from the mansions. The cottage smelled so bad that my friend and I went and bought candles to help cover the smell. There is no dining room as the website described. There is a desk that you are expected to use as a dining room table. The whole place was run down and the kitchen looked dirty. The back yard was ugly and not at all inviting. Probably the worse thing about the whole place was the bathroom. The door is a pocket door that has a frosted glass panel. The door doesn't latch and it doesn't matter if it did, because you can see through the door! It was described as having a rain shower and body jets. Every time someone would shower the whole bathroom would get soaked with water. You can't use the body jets because they are about chest high and they would spray right out of the shower! The shower curtain was covered in hard water stains and soap scum. The cleaning lady came to clean when we were in the house which is odd to me. I've stayed in a few different bed and breakfast cottages and I have never had the cleaning person come while I was in house. They also decided that one morning while we were staying there would be a great day too do yard work like mowing and working on the broke, filthy fountain in the backyard. It was completely awful because I had two little dogs that I couldn't let outside because someone was mowing. I would never encourage anyone to stay here.
