I have had some interesting experiences getting my hair trimmed, cut, colored and yes even permed. All of those experiences had me COMPETELY DONE with allowing anyone to touch my hair again. Then 7 years ago this March I met my stylist Becky at Design 1, and that all changed for the best. I can not believe it has taken this long to find someone who cares about not only how I look but, understands the love I have for my hair. I have not much need to go to the make up artist (I do mean artist), as I do not wear make up like ever. However, Dana did a one time make up for me and it was AMAZING! Anyway, Love my experiences here always Becky and the Design 1 staff do an amazing job. Looking forward to my 7 year anniversary hairstyle & possibly color. Also, making plans for a massage......AAAHHHH

Kimmy does a beautiful job with manicures, pedicures and shellac application - this is a gal that that takes great pride in her work and wants to make sure that you are happy too. Becky is a wiz at color, cut (especially curly hair) and styling. She has a passion for learning and applying her knowledge to ensure that you love your hair too! I am sure that you will enjoy the experience with any of the talented team members working at Design One South!

Had a sea salt body scrub treatment with Samantha- She was awesome and so was the treatment. I will definitely return for this service from her! She was very sweet and had a gentle spirit about her, liked her a lot. The coconut oil they use to mix with the salt scrub is phenomenal- it smells wonderful! I felt very pampered and like I was on a tropical island. Highly recommend this treatment with Samantha. My massage with Kelly was just OK to be honest. I felt like she was a little bit abrasive- I wanted a Swedish- relaxing- massage and it felt more like a deep tissue at some points. I also have to say I do not like the massage lotion they use. It is too thick and there needs to be more skin to skin as opposed to all lotion! The skin to skin friction is part of what makes a massage really awesome because there is more of a grip. Nothing against Kelly, but she just doesn't have the touch that I prefer for a massage. I am sure some people would really enjoy her style. I like someone who eases in and makes it relaxing- she was more like jump right in and go to town! Instead of relaxed I was tense at some points because she moved to fast and had just had that energy about her. Also her moves got really repetitive to me, I like when they mix it up more. Not sure I will return to Design 1 South for a massage for these reasons.

I have had my fair share of hair stylists since moving to West Michigan in the last 4 years. I finally found the one! I can't explain how great it was to finally find Morgan who knew exactly what I was envisioning. My color, the cut it all came out exactly the way I wanted! She has years of experience and was able to give me insight on products and styling unique to my hair type. She even gave me a few curls before leaving. She has such a great personality! Salon was very nice, clean, and staff was friendly. They have tons of products and I even received a complimentary hand paraffin wax treatment which let me tell you during the winter was just want my hands needed. Price was a bit more than I have paid on the east side of the state, only about $20 more but it was sooo worth it and completely reasonable!! I will definitely be a regular client of Morgan's at Design 1 from here on out!
