Club Metro USA

I really enjoyed the decor and the more intimate atmosphere of this facility, as well as their great juice bar, but their business practices leave something to be desired. I signed a 2-year contract. They state they have a cancelation policy that involves a 25 mile rule - you can cancel with notice if you move over 25 miles away. I specifically asked if it was from THAT facility and they said yes. Around 1.5 years later I had moved and tried to cancel. They told me it was 25 miles from any facility, and that I had signed a contract and new full well. My new residence is about 22 miles from their nearest facility and so I didn't qualify for the cancelation. The trouble is, I went by what their sales person told me and it was untrue. Instead of considering that the customer could be right, they made me out to be someone who just wanted their money back and threatened them with the BBB. I have now submitted a complaint to the BBB about this particular Club Metro. I trusted them to be honest with me instead of reading all the fine print in the contract, which I now regret. To make matters worse, they used bully-like tactics with me when I tried to plead my case with them. There are lots of fitness centers to choose from. Honesty and how you treat your customers should matter. This is why I'm calling them out.
For the price it is a good deal. i belonged to Newport Fitness but it is over twice the price and did not get much more for value for my money. If your goal is to do some Cardio 4 times per week for an hour and do a some weight training it is fine, Shower facilities are very limited but I only use them during the week. Also, not much floor room for exercise. I am doing a year membership and even if I buy out early it is cheaper than most clubs. Do not do the extended contracts they try to rope you into. Just take a year and see what you think.
Friend of mine invited me to go. No one helped and they ignored me the whole time I was there. In fact when my friend moved and cancelled her membership she was still being charged. Thank god she lost her card and got a new one or else she'll be broke. Avoid at all costs!
I'd recommend going to a different gym. More often than not, one - if not two or three - cardio machines isn't working. The machines are all very close together in a pretty small space, so at peak times it can get uncomfortably cramped, limiting your workout experience. The staff can be rude during one visit, and ultra friendly the next. And as ruthless as gym managers are when they try to get you to sign up, Metro Gym takes the cake. On the plus side, it's got all the necessary resistance and cardio equipment for a good workout and it's in a very good location. If you can make it at off-peak times this may be a decent gym for you. Otherwise, too much money for a less than enjoyable workout.
Called to inquire about gym memberships and pricing, they cannot give pricing over the phone can be between 20-70. Really not wasting my time.
