Horrifying experience working here on Valentine's Day, 2/4/15! The bleached-blonde, female owner could not be more of an over-the-top, horrible, shady, screaming, cheap Russian stereotype. Way to make Russians look bad, you "crazy" Lady! Larisa, of geminiandscorpio (dot) com, was her shady partner in crime. Yes, it's a crime to not pay someone for a evening of work. It's illegal and called "Theft of Services" in NY. (If you want to read about it as a law, just google it.) The party was way over capacity, understaffed, & disgustingly unsanitary. Whole place smelled like mold as well. No staff cared about that. The owner had no problem screaming at everyone & treating her regular staff and temporary staff like garbage. She had no concern for health code violations nor the safety & personal security of any staff or guests of the banya. She refused to give staff & the band a key to a tiny dressing room, (after offering us one) so we had to leave all of our valuables in the unlocked, in plain view room all night. Owner had requested additional paid workers to help set up tables @ 8pm. She cancelled them at 7:55pm when they were in the lobby of the banya. When it was time to be paid @ 1 a.m., the banya owner, & Larisa, of geminiandscorpio (dot) com, both refused to pay me the $ 150 guarantee I promised. Larisa had ASKED me to work at this party. Haha! I was forced to work 3 jobs that night and had only agreed to waitressing. Couldn't do much about that as I was already THERE. Incredible, too-long-to-mention shit these two scam artists were trying to pull throughout the night, but turning on each other @ end and each saying the other one owed me the $ 150?! The owner also tried to get away with not paying the OTHER waitress, either, and said "it was because she stole a bottle of liquor." Hahaha! The other waitress did no such thing. The whole night was full of lies and verbal abuse. We had asked the NICE, male Russian bartender permission for any drinks we consumed. (Even that was frowned upon by her. ) But the bartender backed us up. Despite the fact the owner & Larisa had turned on each other & argued over who would pay me the $ 150 guarantee...I finally got it, at 3 am, for me and the other waitress who was super sweet and on the verge of tears for hours. This was 2 hrs late, after non-stop yelling, and help from my persistent boyfriend for whom I am eternally grateful. I had to work the next day. Ugh. And the shady owner kept MY TIPS from both the bartending and waitressing I did since 9pm, OF COURSE!! BEWARE OF THIS SHITSHOW PLACE! It also has PLENTY of it's own natural fecal matter starring both in the spas & saunas. Oy, the horrors I saw. Please don't support this place, and "pamper" yourself elsewhere. Thanks for reading!
Great bath house in Brooklyn. Rooms are clean and maintained well. Towels are available for free and they offer food. Plenty of healing properties available to enhance your banya experience.
The nasty manager at Brooklyn Banya refused to accept our 2 Groupons because "Monday is not weekday"- to be more specific, because it's President's Day they won't accept the Groupon. The voucher CLEARLY states "Mon-Fri, Not Valid 12/25/12 and 1/1/13." Nothing about Presidents Day being invalid. They were doing this to many other people today, even though they already had a pile of Groupon vouchers for people who already came in. My husband and I walked out and will demand a refund from Groupon. I refuse to give money to people who run a business like this.
I had a great experience at Brooklyn Banya. The atmosphere was great. Great service and stuff. Definitely going to come back soon.
Service was terrible, very slaw. Food over price for poor quality. Place to small, with very small pool. Only steam rooms was ok. Not gonna come again 👎
