Great staff! My daughter is 5 and has a very thick and curly head of hair. I took her to GCI for her first haircut and hard press. My daughter was a total mess; crying, screaming and yelling and I was totally embarrassed. The stylists and their instructor were incredibly patient with my daughter and made multiple adjustments to calm her and work around her tantrum. They also provided product suggestions to help me manage her hair naturally, as it's obvious she's not going to like having her hair done. I really appreciated their being so calm and friendly when they probably wanted to strangle my daughter! My daughter had a really nice haircut :-) They didn't use any oils while pressing her hair so it was still thick and frizzy, which was disappointing, but I will definitely take her back because of their willingness and patience. The new building is very nice and professional. Will schedule services for myself next.
I am currently a student here at Georgia Career Institute at the Murfreesboro location. When I first decided to go to cosmetology school, I still wasn't really quite sure if that is what I wanted to do for my career. On my first day, I figured we'd be doing book work or listening to lectures like in a typical college class. Instead, we were practicing relaxers, roller sets, etc. and that was just on the first day! The instructors here are incredible. Not only do they help you with anything and everything you may need to know related to the field, they are also there to help on a personal level when things get tough and you just need someone to talk to. We just recently moved to a new facility that is even more beautiful and professional-looking than any salon I've ever been in. We as students also get to help each other out, whether it's helping foil a clients hair or just teaching different techniques. I feel like I personally learn better that way. Once you're about to graduate, the instructors and admissions directors are more than willing to help with finding jobs once you have your license. I couldn't have imagined coming to a better school for cosmetology than Georgia Career Institute. Now that I only have a few short school days left before I graduate and am out in the big girl world, I realize how much I am going to miss the lifelong friends I have made here and the instructors and other staff members who have helped make my dream of becoming a cosmetologist come true.
Totally unimpressed. The students can't learn anything when they are all standing around doing nothing while a small percentage actually do all the work. And they expelled a friend of mine on bogus reasons, posted her business on FB and wouldn't return the grant money, and she was in the top of the class. Beware before you go there.
GCI Murfreesboro, I would like to start out with thanking the staff for opening up the doors once again for me to finish my school to start my career as a Cosmetologist. I have had some misshapes (as everyone) in life that has come between me and furthering my career. I have had to drop out twice to find a paying job to make a living and putting my dreams on hold. The staff at GCI Mrs Cathey, Mrs Beth and Mrs Shirley & Mrs Dunn have been so kind to get me back on track for the 3rd time where I will finish my 462 hrs and Graduate the second week into December I would recommend GCI Murfreesboro to anyone wanting to start a career in Cosmetology, Esthetics, Message or nails. I can honestly say they are the BEST SCHOOL IN TOWN and it’s not only a school you become part of a family! Everyone is there to help you Teachers, Administration and the students. Not only is it a great school but it is a wonderful place to get services done for low cost. Not saying the work you will service is low cost, because I have seen some work the students have done that is over the top! I would recommend everyone to at least try it out and if you don’t like it let someone know what you didn’t like about it and I’m sure the great staff at GCI would fix it to make our customers and students happy! That is our GOAL!!! Thank you again to everyone!! Stylist Brittanie Jordan
My niece has been down there 3 times to try and start her enrollment. Today, being her third time , Julie Dunn set an appointment up with her, and to no surprise, my niece drives 45 minutes away, and she WASN'T THERE!!! What a way to treat someone:( Very disappointed in this place...would not recommend.
