Purchased a $65 Groupon for a 60-minute custom couple's massage. Due to the business' limited hours of operations (Monday to Friday 10-5; Saturday 10-4) and both my fiancé and my hectic work/school schedules we were never able to make an appointment. Since the voucher expired, it wasn't necessary for us to schedule a couple's massage. I called the business and a gentleman named Joe answered. After I scheduled an appointment, I mentioned that I had an expired Groupon, which the paid amount was $65. Groupon notes that for this voucher purchased, the paid amount never expires. Joe responds to me and notes that because this voucher has expired I was required by Groupon to pay an additional $32. I asked him the cost of an hour massage and he responded that it was between $65-$85. I asked why the business website listed the cost of an hour massage at $65. I did not want any additional options, simply a one hour massage. Since the amount purchased for the voucher was $65 and the cost of a regular one hour massage was $65, there technically should not be any additional fees or charges. I calmly and politely tried to explain this to him, but his repeated response was that the voucher expired and I was required to contact Groupon for any additional questions. He had an attitude on the phone and I asked him to cancel the appointment I made, and my fiance will contact Groupon to complain. He obviously didn't care about his customer service and was fine was with me returning the Groupon and going elsewhere. I do not mind and understand paying the difference owed for a regular service, since the Groupon was expired, but I refuse to pay an additional cost if the paid amount for the Groupon was $65 and the cost of a regular massage is $65.
