My parents owned a salon in Michigan. I have always been very critical in my travels as far as my hair goes. When I went to Betz for my first visit I was very satisfied and the pricing was very affordable considering the expertise I received. It has been 2 years and I have yet to have a bad experience. I am a walking billboard for the salon as my red, coarse, curly hair is always perfect. All the referrals I have made have had the same results. Top notch salon with educated staff.
I showed the stylist the updo I wanted for my hair, for a Military Ball, and my end result was horrible. My updo looked NOTHING like the updo I showed him. I ended up with a ratty mess of an updo that was coated in WAY too much hair spray. If my appointment hadn't taken so long, I would have just taken out all the bobby pins, washed my hair, and gone to the event with straight wet hair. I asked him to fix a section of my hair that literally looked like a tangled knot that was coated in hair spray and he tried to comb it out...but in the end, I hated my updo. Over-kill on the hair spray, guy had no idea what he was doing and I don't think he knew the difference between a regular braid or a Fishtail. The girl that did my make-up was great & I wish she would have done my hair instead...as I watched her do an updo on another girl and it looked great. While she did a great job on my make-up, she didn't do anything differently that I couldn't have done myself...
I went to this salon and so did a friend of mine to get ready for prom. My experience was terrible. I booked an appointment for mani/pedi and hair three months prior to my prom date. The day before my appointment, I called the salon to confirm it and they said everything was all set to go. My appointment was set for 10:45. I get a call at 10:30 saying they would have to cancel my appointment. I explained I had booked the appointment months ago and that it was my prom and too late to reschedule anywhere else, so they agreed to make room for me and said they could fit me in at 11:25. I showed up on time and sit and waited for a solid hour before anyone helped me. (I would have just walked out, but I prepaid for the appointment which they refused to refund.) Once I was finally helped, the girl was extremely slow. Just for my pedicure (which turned out awful-not at all the color I asked for and the design did not show up) it took an hour and a half. By the time the girl got to my manicure there was no time left to do the french manicure I requested or my hair. I settled for just a single coat of polish. They way overcharged me. ($40 for pedicure, $30 for manicure, plus $19 for designs on my two big toes which didn't show up against the polish). I ended up leaving the salon with half assed, smudged nails in tears. I had a half hour remaining to get home, shower, re do my nails, and do my own hair and makeup in order to make it to pictures at 5. I ended up not having time for nails. I went to prom in my $800 dress with bare nails and rushed hair and makeup. Plus I missed group pictures because of the delay. When my mother spoke with the salon owner, he was very un sympathetic claiming it wasn't his fault nor his problem. He refused to refund my money and didn't seem to care. I'll never forget that my whole prom was ruined because of this salon. My friend's appointment was before mine. She had her nails and hair done, which were both half assed and she left just as upset as me. Even the girl doing my nails commented on how awful her hair looked. The stylist who began this girl's hair just walked away halfway through and someone else finished it. That makes two of us who had an awful experience and our prom's ruined. The salon wasn't busy that day, there was no excuse for the horrible service. In all honestly, cost cutters and LA nail salon do a MUCH better job for a fraction of the price. There are several salons in the area spare yourself and save your money and DON'T GO HERE.
