I have been a member of LT for about five years. I think that there are definitely some good instructors at this location, however not all are. Last night I went to the "Strike" class and found out it is now being led by a new instructor named Heather. I wasn't optimistic, as I had recently seen her do a Cardio Kickbox class and she appeared to struggle through it. I have been doing classes for about 30 years and know what I am talking about. It quickly became obvious that she does not have the level of cardio fitness required to teach this class. She only did about ten percent of the moves, the rest of the time walking around and constantly fiddling with the stereo (a standard tactic of instructors who can't actually do their own class and need constant rest). Things got worse when she suddenly broke from the "Strike" format, and told everyone to pick a partner and do jumping jacks facing your partner. I feel she did this to buy herself yet more time to rest and stand around without actually doing the class. At that point I walked out along with a few other participants. I think LT members deserve better.

Great location and equipment. The clients they bring to this location is more appropriate compared to other gyms that the equipment gets abused and customers are obnoxious. One of my fav gyms to go to.

Nice gym, but for $110 a month, the wifi should work more than once a week. Also, I have been here 3 months and they still have not replaced the 100 dumbbells.

HELP! - Life Time Fitness - Scottsdale is so ridiculous! I will NEVER step foot in one of their gyms ever again. A patient of the surgeon I work for had to get reconstructive surgery at the end of June 2013 and another revision at the end of October. Prior to the patients first surgery it was informed to several personal trainers that the member wouldn't be able to attend their establishment due to unforeseen circumstances. Long story short, Lifetime Fitness had been charging his card over $100 every month for 6 months. Finally now that our patient is able to attend to other obligations - he had realized what was going on and tried calling the establishment to let them know he hasn't even stepped foot in the gym since his surgery in June (which can be validated by their records). They told him he needed medical documentation to support his story and he contacted me. The doctor and I wrote a letter and I faxed it over. I called the gym and tried getting through to Chris who is the regional manager, but he is always in "meetings" so I spoke with Jennifer who attends to financial handlings. She told me their "medical policy" is they can not retro date a medical freeze. I asked her if the patient could not get refunded if they can apply his payments for future use. She stated they absolutely would not be able to because that is their policy and it was his "fault" he did not provide the documentation sooner - despite having already informed his personal trainer and several others. Aside from her unknowledgeable and highly unwarranted remarks, she proceeded to say that "trainers don't count". First hand experience, when I signed up with Lifetime Fitness they did not disclose to me their policies and when I asked to have my contract sent to me nowhere on it did it specify the protocol for obtaining a medical freeze on your account or any stipulations incase you should need one. I find myself torn with trying to rationalize their professionalism and how these are justifiable excuses. I called the corporate office who confirmed they do not retro date medical freezes. Respecting patient confidentiality I am limited with what I can divulge about our patient, but I reassured her as best as I could that he would have been unable to attend to other obligations. She told me to send the documentation to member relations. Wishful thinking... is their a glimmer of hope??? Highly doubtful and in the meantime, our patient had cancelled the automatic withdrawal through his bank. If this isn't resolved the way it should be, I feel obligated to educate, not to be confused with slandering, the public of their bad business and their situationally based arising "policies." My take away message to Lifetime Fitness - Let's get real, your fees aren't exactly competitive and you are not going to be accommodating to your members??? Take care of who takes care of you, if it weren't for your members you wouldn't be employed nor in business. This member had been dedicated to your establishment for years... and it is evident that your "valued members" are nothing more than merely financial resources. Furthermore, what does it cost your stupid gym for him to walk through your air conditioned doors and use your machines? He already made 6 months of payments in which he did not get anything out of and you mean to tell me you simply can't apply the payments?

The higher cost made me expect more, and I planned on cancelling "when" they didn't meet my expectations, but I was wrong, and they have delivered. Now I'm a believer. I've been a member for four months now and couldn't be happier with the place. It'd be hard for me to start going to a lesser quality gym if I couldn't come here. It's definitely worth the price, if it's in your budget. There are always lots of people here, but the place is designed to accomodate that amount of people. I've never had a problem waiting for a machine, getting into a class, getting a swim lane, etc. I love the amenities. They keep up the maintenance on their facility and everyone is super nice. The place is very kid friendly, which is something I was nervous about because I don't want kids around when I'm working out, but it's never been an issue. It seems like the activities they have for kids are put together very nicely, if you want to bring your family.
