Concourse Athletic Club
Reviews
I have been a member off and on for over 10 years now. Re-locations and moves created logistics that made the location impractical. CCAC has been great in cancelling my membership and then renewing without any issues! Great facilities except for one main issue... the free weights area is very small, depressing and lacking proper equipment compared to most other workout facilities. Strange but it has always been this way. Pools are awesome, great spin room, great club energy, very helpful staff, great courts and the common areas are clean, well kept and well staffed.
We had a corporate account with them. We cancelled as we were moving offices to Midtown. They charged us for a whole month after we were moved out of the old office. We disputed the charge as we showed not one person from our company even entered the gym that month, but they decided to turn it over to collections anyways. The collections company called harassing my family, friends, and anyone that I know that they could get a phone number for. I tried to pay them regardless (even though I felt like we were being screwed), and all I asked was they they release us of any liability of lawsuits arising. Last week, they attorney's contacted me and I ended up paying them even without a release. They did send me a release after receiving payment, but this morning we got served by a Marshall even after I paid the bill in full. DO NOT SIGN UP FOR A GYM MEMBERSHIP HERE. Your decision to do so may end up in a lawsuit, upset family members, or worse.
Good gym- not worth what they charge though. Also, once you're a customer and they have your information, they email and call you constantly. I have told numerous people not to contact me, and they persist. Very aggravating, especially if you're paying that much of a premium.
Great facilities at a reasonable price
The facilities are great, but I would liken it to an overpriced YMCA. As well, the billing and accounting can be a pain to deal with at times. When I moved last May, I tried to cancel my membership. They gave me the run around for several weeks. For instance: the accounting office is closed, or you have to come in person to cancel your membership. I finally got it cancel, and they continued to bill me for 3 more months. They finally processed my cancelation this past september, and now they spam me with emails and mailings to rejoin. I would recommend looking at a YMCA or other athletic clubs in the area before committing to a membership here.
