The stylist took 2 hours to trim my extremely straight hair--and only took off about an inch. When it was finished her "instructor" looked at it from all the way across the room and said it looked "fine". I went here because I had gotten my hair cut at a school before where the students had to have their plan approved by the instructor before cutting and then afterward the instructor would comb through it and critique the cut for the student's benefit, commenting on scissor angle and everything. Clearly at La James neither the students nor the teachers know what they are doing. I will never go back there again.
Let's put it this way: you get what you pay for. In my case, I got a haircut that lasted 2 hours, cost me $15, and looked like crap. They were very sweet, and I felt bad for them but seriously some people aren't meant to be stylists.
I do not recommend loaning your hair out for experimentation...
