Nurtur the Salon - Upper Arlington

I get most of my services done at Nuture - hair, manicure and pedicures. However, the last 2 manicures have been below expectations. My "theory" is because the room is too dark and hard for nail technicians to see. My color was uneven and didn't cover my entire nail! I literally removed the color within a couple hours of my appointment due to the frustration. But, if you're looking for a hairstylist- Chelsey at the Grandview is location is great and does an awesome blowout!
Had an appointment for a haircut with Andrew on April 10, 2014. I was so tired I could barely get to the salon. It had been a stressful week. However, I dragged myself to Nurtur the Salon anyway, and I am SO glad I did. Andrew listened to my hair issues, and I had a few! He repeated want I wanted, and then took me to get my hair shampooed. On the way, he asked me to sit down in a chair as he gave me a neck and shoulder massage. My stress began to melt. We then moved over to the wash basin. I was lying down while the soft music played in the quiet and dimly lit room. Andrew then massaged my head while shampooing. He placed hair conditioner on my hair, and then wrapped it with a towel. He asked if I wanted a hand massage or a face massage. I went for the face massage. He gave me the best face massage ever! He lightly sprayed my face (he told me with what, but I forget) and I could feel the fine mist falling on my face like tiny stars. He lightly massaged my faced, and then wrapped a warm towel around it, with a small opening in which to breathe. He let me sit there a few minutes. I felt I could cry because after the stressful week, I had, to have someone be so gentle and kind to me was overwhelming. He then rinsed my hair, and before I knew it, we were back at his chair. Again, Andrew repeated to me what I wanted done to make sure we were on the "same page." When he began to cut my hair, I could tell he was super-focused on what he was doing, not chatting on about trivialities. There was not a lot of hair to be cut, but it had to be a strategic cut (because of my hair issues.) When he was done cutting my hair, he gave me a short-term plan to get my hair back where I wanted it to be within the next few months. My entire experience was perfect and did not cost extra, simply the cost of my haircut. No kidding, it was a 10. This is the best place for being pampered and receiving many of their services, especially for the cost. I highly recommend Nurtur the Salon, and Andrew.
The spa (facials, waxing, make-up) at Nutrur is FABULOUS!! If that is what you are looking for, this is the place. Very skilled. On the contrary, I have had 2 HORRIBLE experiences with hair. The first was with me about a year ago where I had a bad color experience followed by a bad cut experience. I have not been back since. Then my boyfriend needed to get a haircut and knew someone who worked at Nutur. He scheduled an appointment, but ended up not making it. The front desk offered someone else but never mentioned that they had JUST STARTED CUTTING HAIR (a pretty important detail when you have been growing your hair for 10 months to get a new style - had he known this, he would have rescheduled for someone more skilled). Needless to say mid-way thought his hair cut he learned that this was her first job out of school and then he walked out with a early-90's bowl haircut, uneven side burns, and neck hair. And he never got the facial that they offer every client while getting their hair washed, she didn't dry/style it, and didn't recommend any products - in his words, "I felt like I was being rushed out of there." I felt so bad when I saw him because my facial expressions were clear - it was indeed as bad as he had thought it was. Thankfully his friend fixed it up the next day but he still has a haircut he never wanted. Neither of us will be going back to this salon for any hair services. I would recommend asking A LOT of questions about who you are scheduled with before letting them touch your hair. I question the coaching they provide new stylists. And their professionalism when recommending stylists has something to be desired. It seems they are more concerned about getting the client in the door to make $$ rather than matching client needs with stylist ability. Beware!!
Great service and great people! I get my hair colored there every month, and it is a high quality job and a great experience. My stylist Tasha is amazing and talented.
This salon has a great atmosphere and I love the pampering treatment (mini-facial or hand massage) that they offer while you're having your hair shampooed. I started coming here a year ago when I moved to the Columbus area. I was very sad to leave my last stylist in DC, but seeing Kirsten this past year at Aveda I have been happy with every single cut! She consistently takes the time to make sure the cut is exactly what I'm looking for.
