All I have to say is wow! I recommend this spa to all of my friends. Being a spaist (made up word)...I have had the chance to visit many types of spas around the world (I basically try to visit a spa everywhere I go, because I can). The Trellis Spa, which is down the street from where I work, is a work of art. Even though I may not seem like your typical type of person to be seen at a spa (basically not rich) the staff treated me like I was queen (i have had bad experience of being mistaken for the staff at another spa once, not pleasant). When I walked in and I said my name, they knew exactly where I was to go. I came very early in the morning because I had 5 hours of services (booyah!). I was shown to a very deserted locker room (nice privacy in the mornings), and given a robe. Let me tell you something, the robe did not fit. I am a busty woman and I was afraid they were going to tell me it was the largest size they had....no such thing, they had a plus size robe that would have charmed the pants off any busty woman. I was set. There are two saunas in the women's area and a whirlpool. You could use a bathing suit or not. I am more of a free spirit, but I did not want to make others uncomfortable so I settled for a lay by the warm pool and some refreshing water while waiting for my first treatment which was a massage. The waiting area for the massage has two areas a regular area with couches and chaise lounges and chairs with ottomans, and the quiet area with chaises, a fireplace and ultimate silence. I stayed in the regular area before my massage (it was still early and I was the only one there). My massage therapist was an amazing woman (nothing against men therapist, but I feel like I can be open more with a woman...not in that sense crazies). She was magnificent and got all the areas we talked about. I then had an early lunch due to my having a Mani/Pedi next. The chicken Caesar wrap was awesome and perfectly portioned. Did not make me too full and the glass of wine relaxed me even more. By this time the spa is getting more people and it is time for my Mani/Pedi. The same lady does my nails and my toes and she is hilarious. I know some people don't like to talk during spa time, but since the Mani/Pedi room is separate sort of from the rest of the spa, it was nice to listen to the woman talk about her life in NY and her family. She had me cracking up. Finally it is time for my last service, a facial. By this time the place is crawling with people and I opt to go into the silent room. it is really nice...I almost fall asleep until I see my technician looking for me in the regular room. I feel like jelly and I am ready for the facial. It was so soothing and relaxing I am pretty sure I fell in and out of consciousness , and snored a little bit. That is how relaxed I felt around the technician. After this last service, I know I can relax some more and hang out in the sauna, but I had already tried everything included and I was ready to go...I had to get back to real life (being at trellis I felt like I was in another city...it was awesome). It was time to get back to Houston traffic. All in all I still recommend this spa to everyone who ask me for a place to go. I can't wait to be able to go again. Everyone at least in my opinion were super accommodating and nice. I can say that because I have been to some spas that acted like they didn't even want your service...weird!

The Houstonian Hotel is by far one of Houston's most tucked and preciously hidden gems (that description made it sound as if I were describing testicles..I'm not) With it's oak and wood ladened walls and pillars..not to mention the deer head sticking out of the wall, the Houstonian screams "Texas" in my opinion. It's a bit older but is still breath taking. The best part is the drive in. As you round the corners and drive through the beautiful green terrain to the hotel is just gorgeous. So gorgeous that to this day I can't tell you what the front of the hotel looks like. I visited Olivette for HRW 2014 and the food was good. The staff and service were top notch. Was at an event this past week and the power went out. No one freaked, I honestly didn't know the power went out until I went to the restroom and noticed neon green glow sticks everywhere. I just took one and walked back into the party! The parking garage was pitch black too but we had glow sticks so we were fine. Smart and fast problem solving is what makes a business efficient. They know what they are doing at the Houstonian.

Beautiful setting. Well trained and friendly staff. Rooms are not huge, but they are very well done. We were next to the ice machine and never heard anything, so it is plenty quiet. In hotel and spa dining options are excellent. Wine by the bottle prices are astoundingly inexpensive! Health club is one of the best anywhere at any price. Spa is very nice, but busy. They fill up fast. It is a large-ish place but very popular with the locals. Recommend making spa reservations well in advance of your arrival or you may get shut out. 3 separate pools for whatever you want to do in a pool. Kids love the resort style pool. Serious swimmers have a large lap pool, and there is a third, smaller and quieter pool if that is what yo want. Location is unbeatable for access to central business district and shopping. Reasonable, not cheap, price for all you get.

The ballrooms are very pretty, and the staff are usually available, but they can be kind of rude sometimes. It's a very crowded place, and they need more elevators! Also parking is ridiculous unless you get valet. I've worked here once before as well, and the work areas and staff elevator are absolutely a nightmare. It's a great hotel cramped into a tiny space with not enough room for parking, and not much room for staff to get through, making it difficult on the guests. Very pretty and a decent place for events, though.

Very nice meeting rooms and food. Service was very good also.
