Absolutely terrible. Staff was generally nice. So, kudos there. the room was outdated and worn looking. The tub drain was clogged with a hair ball that caused you to be standing in 4 inches of water during a 3 minute shower. It was hit and miss on whether you would receive a full set of towels. Always received plenty of bath towels, but hand towels and wash clothes were missing on and off throughout our visit. The cost of this place would at least makes me expect a clean bathroom. The place is completely dated... We had a combo vhs/dvd player in the room. Don't know if it worked as we did not try it, but vhs ended in 2000. I would not stay here again, you can do better staying at other 3 star places in the area that are similarly priced.

dismal! I was staying there for a fun "girls" weekend and traveling with a toddler. We really wanted to be close to the pool. Our cottage room was way on the outskirts of the resort which surprised me because it was not a busy time for them. I think it would have been nicer to be given a room closer to the main lodge. After dinner we wanted to go to the pool and it was dark outside. Our porch light wasn't working, and it was darker than dirt outside. We had to walk down icy steps, without a light, to get to our car to drive to the pool. Talk about a hazard--stairs at night with a toddler!! We made it to the pool all right, but my friend walked into a freshly painted wall near the pool and got paint all over her jacket. There were no signs up warning about the maintenance work that was being done. She brought her jacket up the front desk and they didn't seem concerned. She finally had to tell them to find hand sanitizer so she could get the paint off her jacket. I guess the girl at the desk took my friends jacket and finally found some hand sanitizer and cleaned the paint off, but she didn't tell my friend where she was going so my friend paced at the front desk area for 90 minutes before the girl came back. By the time my friend got her jacket back, she was frustrated and angry so we didn't stay longer at the pool. I thought they would offer her a meal credit or room upgrade, but they didn't. we went back to our room, which was ho-hum, nothing special…I don't think we will be back.

My parents gave me and my wife a night getaway to homestead and we finally got around to using it on Dec 6-7, we were booked for a Garden style room and as soon as we walked into the room my wife said that there was no way we could stay in there. It stunk very bad so we called the front desk and were told to call back at 4pm to see what they had available. That was the longest hour of my life it felt like.... We called back and decided to pay $60 to upgrade to the Luxury Suite. It was worth every penny. The first room in the Garden house had a very small room, the bed was right when you walked in and the bedding stunk, and the carpet needs to be updated. We upgraded into the Valley View cottage (room 227) and we were upstairs with vaulted ceilings, a fireplace, new couch, huge master bath with a jetted tub. It was a huge change and worth it. We had such a relaxing quiet stay. We felt bad for another couple as we heard them talking at the front desk that they were there for both of their birthdays and when we were unloading our car we saw them walk into a room in the garden house and stopped in the door way for a second. We knew exactly what they were going through! One more problem we had was we called down to Simons restaurant to see what time they closed so we could decide to eat before or after our sleigh ride at 8:45pm. We were told they closed at 10, so we went in a little after 9 to find out they closed at 9. We ended up driving to Heber to eat at Kneaders. Kinda bummed because I had heard that they had a good dinner. But we ate breakfast there and it was pretty good. Overall we had a good stay with a few issues but if you get a new style room you should like it alot.

If I could give it 0 stars, I would. My husband and I went to a couple's convention that was being held at the Zermatt. It was about marriage and relationships, so we made it our "anniversary" and were looking forward to a romantic weekend. We chose homestead because the photos online looked so nice, and it was cheaper than the zermatt, but still walking distance. But even at the homestead, we were spending a lot of money. So we get there and get checked in and go to our room and right off the bat, I'm concerned because they put us in "the farmhouse" but that was not the room I selected. Once inside, I wanted to cry. I had spend all that money for a glorified motel 6. They tried to make it look all cutesy cottage, but the result was old, outdated, the room was small, and I didn't feel romantic. I felt cheated. I wanted a room were I felt like it was a vacation, you know? At the homestead, I felt like I was better off sleeping at home. When I get a hotel room for a romantic getaway, I'd like the quality of the room to be better than what I have at home. At the "farmhouse" it was less. Much less. And the photos online are VERY misleading. They take pictures of their nicest rooms and represent them like all the rooms are like that. They are not. Those are the rooms that cost $200-300 or more a night. I was so upset, I just took our stuff back to the car, and called the Zermatt to see if maybe by chance they still had a room, since there were so many people at the convention. I told them what happened, and that I was very disappointed at the homestead. Since they are both owned my the same company or entity, the front desk gal at the Zermatt made it right in a big way. They were all out of their standard rooms, and all they had was a suite left, but she said we could use what we had already paid at the homestead, if we wanted to pay the $40 difference in price. Heck yes! Our suite was soooo nice! it at 5 rooms! a full kitchen, a living room, and bedroom, a room just for the jetted tub, and bathroom. It also had a fireplace, and a lot of other nice features. I couldn't believe it was only a $40 difference. It was so luxurious, I definitely felt like I was on vacation. As a bonus we got a $50 visa card just for staying there, which was nice to use at the little bakery there for breakfast. Please, If you are thinking of staying at the homestead- don't! call zermatt and see what they have. even if it is a little more, you will be much happier with the service and quality of your room and visit there.

What I wanted most from my weekend away with my husband was to catch up on sleep and reconnect through some time alone together. Unfortunately, the awful beds at the homestead made it impossible to sleep and the extra guests (bugs) meant we weren't alone. Throughout our stay there were about 30 of the unwanted guests. Including two in our bed. After the first night of tossing and turning trying to find a comfortable position to sleep we spoke with the front desk to see if there was an upgrade or something that could be done. Although the staff was friendly they offered us nothing in the way of help or compensation. The only suggestion they had was for us to pay an extra 60 to 80 dollars to move to one if their condos. So we suffered through another night, going home more exhausted and frustrated than when we came. We stayed in "the barn". Maybe they have more comfortable rooms elsewhere on the resort but we won't know because we will never stay there again.
