Aspen Lodge Resort & Spa
Reviews
Just had a fabulous meal at the Aspen Lodge Bar and Grill. Fries are to die for and the buffalo burger was juicy and flavorful. The raspberry dessert was truly scrumptious. Our waitress was friendly and very efficient. We will definitely return on our next visit to Estes Park.
This resort (I use the term resort loosely) should not have been open to the public. The pool was closed, the lake inaccessible because of overgrown weeds and mud blocking the path to the dock. The streets and paths were covered in mud; the grounds were full of weeds, which were not mowed. This place is relying on great reviews from times gone by before the mudslide disaster in 2013. We stayed in a cabin, which was filthy. Our landline phone did not work. We were only able to call the front desk, cell phone service in the area was poor as well. My young nephew fell off his horse because his saddle slipped upside down. My nephew was lucky he was not injured. The recreation center was not staffed. Although it was wonderful seeing family members from across the United States all together again, this was an unfortunate gathering place. We were mislead about the accommodations. The main reasons we chose this location was because of the pool and lake; both of which were inaccessible. The little ones had nothing to do. The grounds were so overrun with weeds and mud; they could not even play outside. There were no grassy areas with picnic tables or chairs; no outdoor gathering spots except adjoining the Lodge; which had food and beverage restrictions (can't bring your own). All our family get-togethers had to be inside, eating and drinking their food and beverages.
The service was great, they made several accommodations for us above and beyond the call of duty. The bed was comfortable and big and the room was nicely updated and clean. I would give it five stars - and maybe will after next year - but the pool, hot tub and small pond are all unusable because of the flood in '13. They're doing a good job of repairing it for the most part. Overall, it was a relaxing escape from the city and they were very helpful. I would totally go here again.
I spent over a year trying to contact a daoist master that is staying there long term while he builds a monastery. During that time my emails and phone calls were ignored and once I was told to go commit suicide. I have been trying to to learn Taoism for over three years and am disappointed about the lack of resources that there are in the united states and that people assume that people just have money coming out of there ass and that everyone including people with learning disabilities can all learn from the internet. I was even told that my learning disabilities Autism was fake. The people at the aspen lodge treated me with disrespect when I was trying to get a hold of this master Chen.
I had the pleasure of visiting Colorado for the first time and Aspen Lodge in Estes Park was a wonderful pick. I stayed in the Lodge which had a beautiful view of Long's Peak. The air and weather were so great for my San Francisco lungs that I didn't want to leave, or maybe it was the sacred fish that I wanted to stay for? The food at Aspen Lodge Resort and Spa was superb! They have a new chief, William Sturgess, who moved in from Chicago, Illinois, and he is adding a spicy taste to the menu for the mountains. A great place to eat or vacation year around with multiple activities and site seeing views to explore. Thank you Louise
