Andaz Savannah
Reviews
We absolutely loved the Hyatt Andaz in Savannah. Some of our favorites: > Make sure you get the room deal that comes with free breakfast: AMAZING breakfast and organic, too! > Free mini bar with organic drinks and sodas...and snacks! Keep eating and they'll refill it for free! > SUPER comfy bed and comforters > Great location in Savannah - a block from the river and the City Market...you can walk nearly everywhere > Friendly staff! > Great pool with private cabanas (bar was closed at the pool area though) Only two negatives (which really weren't a huge deal): > The in-room dining meal wasn't great at all. We ended up having Dominos deliver two nights :/. And it's a bit pricey with only a small handful of options. So don't go back to the hotel hungry at night! > Standard rooms were kind of small
Everything about our 75 guest dinner was perfect. We had an absolutely exceptional meal by Chef Lauren, and the staff could not have been more helpful, friendly and customer service oriented. Chef created a delicious menu for us, and the food was delicious and elegantly presented. Our servers were the best! It was a great experience all around for us and we will definitely be back.
Great location, good staff, great value. I love this little place. Two areas that could use a bit of improvement: the pool area and the breakfast staff. The pool area is a little sparse with the greenery. Coming off one of the lush streets on Savannah, it would have been nice to continue the greenery with more plants around the pool area. But that is just my opinion. As for the breakfast crew, maybe they were just a little sleepy, I was one of the first people there at the restaurant, but they were kind of slow to understand my basic requests ( I asked for a specific utensil and also asked for pancakes. They looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language). Overall, it's a great place and I would stay again.
I was conspicuously followed by staff and did not enjoy the experience. The place seemed largely vacant, so I guess they must be getting bored. I've stayed in much more plush accommodations, where the security was effective, not intrusive. The message your employees convey by their rude behavior and borderline harassment, is that Savannah is a crime-ridden town. I can't imagine why I would want to come back to this.
Great place to stay. We went for our honeymoon. Centrally located @ Ellis Square with the splash pad/jetted fountain and City Market. We originally booked a standard king room, but decided to upgrade to the loft with balcony when we saw the room. The room was nice, but you may have to request for tp. There was also a stain/spot on the couch under the pillows. Be aware of the complimentary and non-complimentary items (will show pending for a few days after leaving). We didn't eat at the 22 restaurant or bar, so can't rate. The staff was great though. They always smiled, helped with luggage and opened doors. Rooms had complimentary non-alcoholic drinks/snacks. Also, no fees for the wi-fi. However, be sure to visit the Visitor Center for less expensive parking passes. The terrace/pool area was nice, but we only visited once during our stay. We walked everywhere even to the nearest gas station, but fare free shuttle comes by every apx 20 min at the market. Ate nearby at Lady & Sons, Your Pie, Ruth's Chris and several other places. A few bars were not open during the first few days of the week, but Wild Wings provided enough entertainment with live music. Another restaurant bar provided a large projection screen to watch current sports. Liquor & Beer is available in rooms at restaurant prices.
