Stylist "Cat" wanted me to sign a waiver stating she would not be responsible for any chemical causing burns or blindness. She told me that someone had a reaction so now she no longer wants to be responsible. "Cat" could it be that you do not know what you are doing??? I have never in my life been to a salon or spa that ask for such a ridiculous form to be signed. Keep presenting that form and you will not be in business for long. Keep scaring away your customers. A real certified stylist would not present this to their customers. STAY AWAY FROM THIS SALON!!!
I went to Splurge recently (my sister goes all the time and see’s Amanda who always does a great job on her), and I had an apmt with Jade. I went in with some pretty crumby coloring from one of those crappy franchise places but Jade wasn’t overwhelmed by my mess of a dye job, she took her time and explained what products she used and was just an all around fantastic stylist! She was very friendly and I trusted her enough to ask her what she’d recommend. I left the salon with beautifully colored, highlighted and styled hair and I’d definitely go back. One thing I noticed right off the bat is that all the stylists that were there all seemed really passionate about their work and took their time which I definitely appreciated given my bad experience with the previous chain salon. I’d recommend anyone! Plus the salon’s in a good location, (right in downtown Grand Rapids so close to a lot of stuff.)
What a find! I moved to GR from Jersey/Philly area and was looking for a funky salon to cut and donate my hair. By chance, I happen to find Splurge and schedule an appointment. I can't remember the stylist's name, but a younger girl with an edgy look cut my hair EXACTLY how I wanted it. The woman at the desk (an owner, maybe?) approached to package the ponytail and offered to mail it out for free. She even suggested a local charity that makes wigs for children with cancer, but was more than happy to mail it to a charity that I had already selected. The short, choppy, edgy cut was exactly what I had described. I was prepared to drop 40 or 50 bucks on the cut, dry, and style, but shockingly, they only charge $25 for a cut! This place is awesome. Everyone is super nice and appreciative of the customers. I'm just glad I found this place now, before they accumulate more clientele and raise prices.
Kind staff. Very low skill level stylists. I told the stylist I was growing out my hair and she took three inches off. The cut was "all over the place" and uneven. It kept getting worse...the color was terrible. Very inexpensive salon compared to others, but I should know by now that we get what we pay for. Disappointing.
