J. Stephens is a full-service professional salon spa with a warm and friendly atmosphere. ALL the stylists are talented and are skilled in new styles, trends and products. I usually see Sarah but there have been times where I have had to schedule at the last minute and I have had other stylists that are just as amazing. They take their time and get to know the clients and how they style their hair. Have a wedding coming up???? I have been in the salon when the entire bridal party had hair, makeup, manicures and pedicures done. They manage it all perfectly and the brides leave feeling beautiful and relaxed which is how it should be on your wedding day. I wouldn’t want to go anywhere else. I highly recommend J. Stephens from head to toe, they will pamper you.

Finding a great hair salon is always one of the hardest parts about relocating. Luckily, I found J Stephens relatively quickly when I moved to State College. This salon is the best! Their stylists are fantastic -- I have gone to both Billie and Sarah, but I know everyone who works there is top notch. My hair cuts always last a long time, and I frequently get compliments about my style/color. This salon is DEFINITELY worth the cost (still reasonable, but maybe a bit more than some other places in the area). If you want a serious high quality salon where your stylist will get to know you and your hair, go to J Stephens!

You will not be disappointed in any service you receive at J Stephens! Michelle gives the best massages and pedicures. Sammie and Billie are amazing makeup artists, and Sarah is the best colorist/stylist that I have ever gone to. I have lived in State College for 13 years and have tried almost every other salon. J Stephens is the best!! I can honestly say this is the only salon and spa that I need and I won't be going any to any other salons as long as I live in State College. I have trusted them for years and on my wedding day to meet all of my beauty needs! I always leave feeling beautiful and refreshed!! Its no wonder that the majority of my family and friends now go to J Stephens as well!!

DO NOT GO!! The staff were extremely un- professional..( talking very loudly, eating right next to clients, talking about personal issues, etc). I went here to get my hair dyed and thought because of all the great reviews below I would get a great color. It looks TERRIBLE and the "stylist" wouldn't even admit that she messed it up!!!

I wish I could give J. Stephens 10 stars! I was married in early August and had trouble finding a salon-- I had never heard of J. Stephensen's (I was newer to the State College area) and luckily, one of my colleagues recommended the salon. I called and made an appt- they gave me a tour at my first visit and were SO professional. They asked me questions regarding what services I wanted, gave me multiple options and were honest and upfront about pricing and what exactly to expect. I had Billie do my hair and make up for my wedding and received several compliments. Women that were in attendance at my wedding and engaged asked for the name of the salon I went to-- they swore they would use the same place when they got married. The morning of my wedding- it was pouring down rain and myself, mother, future mother-in-law, 5 bridesmaids and 1 flower girl all got our hair done on time, were offered to be walked out with umbrellas by the staff... my maid of honor even brought in bagels for everyone (the salon was fine with that) and she didn't have any peanut butter-- and the woman at the front desk offered me some from the salon's fridge in the back-- that is dedication! I could not say enough about the wonderful staff, service and overall experience. Also, post-wedding I scheduled a manicure and they had to reschedule ME-- they did, FREE OF CHARGE because they felt terrible about inconveniencing a customer. I'm so happy I finally found a salon that values their customers- give them your business- you will NOT be disappointed!
